We have, and God has, a special affinity for Jerusalem, the city of God. But God Himself is our Home; He is eternal, almighty, absolutely good! A thousand years to us is a moment to Him. We live in the wrath of mortality; He lives in the glory of eternity. Lord, guide me to wisdom, and help me be aware of Your abiding presence! Make me glad as many days as I have languished, I pray; let Your favor rest upon me and upon all Your people. Establish us and our work, great Lord! God is good, and His steadfast love endures forever!

I greatly rejoice in YHWH; He has saved me and blessed me. I proclaim God’s vindication, and He has made me safe; God’s people are His treasured possession! Establish Your eternal community, Lord, and let us join Your household forever! We are redeemed, God’s holy people, and we have an eternal heritage.

Paul’s charge to Timothy before God: Preach the word; be urgent at all times; convince, rebuke and exhort; be patient, and teach! People are hard to reach, seeking ‘teachers’ who say what comforts the audience—so they wander into falsehood. But stay steady; endure suffering; fulfill your ministry; evangelize! Paul had finished the course of his career in good faith. And he was looking forward to a crown of righteousness.

As Jesus and His disciples were departing Jericho, bound for Jerusalem and the cross, Jesus was accosted by blind Bartimaeus. Jesus called the man forward, and he asked Jesus, ‘Master, let me receive my sight.’ Jesus replied, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well.’ And immediately, Bartimaeus received his sight, and followed Jesus on the way.
