Devotions: Ps 88, 91, 92, 95; Jer 11:1-20; Rom 8:28-39; Jn 6:52-59
Lord, I cry to you from the depths of my soul, from the darkness of a pit of struggle and sorrow. Set me free from my sorrows, I pray. God is my Refuge, and I will trust in Him always. He will deliver and protect me; I have no fear, because You, my God, are with me. God will rescue me and honor me; He will give me long life and salvation. Lord, You make me happy by Your work; Your enemies perish, and Your chosen remnant prevail. I flourish in the courts of my God; I am fruitful in my old age, thanks to God’s love and favor. Blessed be my Lord, God of the universe! Let us make a joyful noise to our Rock; let us come to God with thanksgiving and praise! He is Master and Maker, King and Shepherd, Judge and Physician. I am His, and I will rest in Him.
YHWH gives His message to Jeremiah: ‘Hear My covenant and speak to those in Judah and Jerusalem: cursed are those who disregard My covenant. Hear and obey the covenant of God! I have delivered you, but you have ignored Me. You are in revolt, and I will punish those who persist in sin. Your idols cannot save you, and you will not obey your God. You face destruction in your sins, for our holy God is a consuming Fire!
For those called by God, in everything God works for their good. He has known us always; He has predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son; we are called, justified and glorified in His sight, and by His grace. He will provide all we need, and He will vindicate us against every charge. Jesus is our Intercessor and Redeemer, and nothing can separate us from God’s steadfast, eternal love. We are more than conquerors, through God’s love in the Messiah, Jesus our Lord!
The Jewish authorities persisted in misunderstanding everything Jesus sought to teach them. He had told them He would be sacrificed, and those who partook in His flesh and blood would also participate in the holy, unending life of God. In this way, we abide in Him and He abides in us. He is the Bread of llasting life; His blood saves forever. Blessed are we who partake in the sacrament by communing with Him.
