Devotions: Ps 19, 46, 50; Deut 9:23-10:5; Heb 4:1-10; Jn 3:16-21
Nature testifies to her Creator; God made and animates all the universe. His law is perfect; to fear Him is wise; to love Him is life itself. Lord, search and cleanse me of my unknown faults. Let my speech and my thoughts be acceptable to You, my Rock and Redeemer! God is my Refuge and Strength, a very present Help in times of danger and trouble. God is the center of order and goodness. Let us bow in silent adoration before Him, the Exalted One. Our God comes; He does not neglect His people. He is our Judge and Caretaker; He owns everthing! All He asks is thanks and obedience; I seek Your discipline, Lord—You are the Keeper of my liberty and well-being. I bring You my thanks and praise; show me Your salvation, and welcome me into Your household, my Lord!
The Hebrews recurrently rebelled against God and His will for them—to their great hurt. Moses repeatedly interceded for the people, lest the Holy God should destroy them for their disobedience, insolence and idolatry. Moses and YHWH replicated the original stone tables of the Law, which Moses smashed in addressing the rebellion of the people. Moses put the replacements into the Ark of the Covenant, as YHWH commanded him.
Today is the appropriate day to respond to God’s covenant, and to enter His Sabbath rest. He has so loved all people that He sent His only Son, so that whoever believes in Jesus should have eternal life and not be condemned. He is the Way of salvation. Gather to God’s Light, and be saved!
