Devotions: Ps 20, 21, 110, 116, 117; Amos 5:18-27; Jude 17-25; Mt 22:15-22

May YHWH answer us in our days of trouble; may He protect us and support us! May He grant my heart’s desire and fulfill my plans; may we shout for joy in victory and set up banners in God’s name! May YHWH fulfill all my petitions I know YHWH helps His anointed; we boast in the name of our God! We exult, O Lord, in Your strength; You are Creator and Master; our Glory! You swallow up our enemies in wrath; be exalted in Your strength as we sing of Your praise and power. YHWH says to our Lord Jesus, ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies into Your footstool!’ God has made Jesus our eternal High Priest, in the order of Melchizedek. He is God’s chosen One, and we are His! God listens, hears and answers; He is gracious and merciful; He protects the simple and gives us rest from our sorrows and our labors. God has delivered me from death, and I give Him my love and my obedience. Lord, I thank You, and I praise You! Let all peoples praise our God, YHWH, forever.

Don’t long for the Day of the Lord; it will be a dark and terrible day! God hates our religious feasts and solemn assemblies; He wants justice and righteousness. Cast aside all idols, and abide in the God of hosts!

Jude reminds his readers: Remember, loved ones, the prophecies of the apostles of our Lord Jesus the Messiah. They told you to beware of scoffers who pursue their own ungodly passions. They create divisions; they are worldly people, and lack the Holy Spirit. But you, my beloved family in God, build yourselves up in your most holy faith; continue to pray in the Holy Spirit; abide in the love of God; and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, which will carry you into eternal life. Convince doubters; save as many as you can, snatching them from the fire; show mercy, and remain humble, hating any stain of sin. I commit you to Him Who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before His glory, with rejoicing: to the one and only true God, through Jesus the Messiah our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time, now, and for ever. Amen.’

The Pharisees conspired against Jesus, seeking grounds to discredit or destroy Him. They sent disciples, along with Herodians, to Jesus. They posed Him this: ‘Teacher, we know You are true and teach God’s way truthfully, with no regard for the position of men. So, tell us: Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?’ Jesus knew of their malice; He answered, ‘Why put Me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the money for the tax.’ They brought Him a denarius. Jesus asked them, ‘Whose likeness and inscription are these?’ ‘Caesar’s,’ they answered. So He said, ‘Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God, the things that are God’s.’ Hearing this, they marveled; they left Jesus and went away.
