Devotions: Ps 20, 21:1-7; 23, 27; Isa 25:1-9; Rev 1:9-20; Jn 7:53-8:11
May the Lord answer you in days of trouble, and His name protect you in every circumstance. May He credit you with all your offerings and regard your sacrifices for His sake. Those who depend on YHWH will never be dismayed; we will rise and stand upright! YHWH, we rejoice in Your strength and Your wisdom. You give length of days, splendor and majesty. Let God be exalted as we sing praises to His power and grace. YHWH is my Shepherd, and I lack no good thing. He rests me in green pastures; He guides me to still waters and restores my soul. He leads me in righteousness for His name's sake. Though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil for God is with me. Lord, Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. YHWH is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? YHWH is the stronghold of my life; I will fear nothing and no one else. Those who assail me, God will cause to stumble and fall. If a great army encamps against me, I will remain confident. I seek only to live in God always. He will shelter me and cover me; He will establish and sustain me. Lord, keep me near You. Teach me Your ways and lead me on a level path. I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. And so I wait for the Lord!
YHWH, You are my God, and I praise You for the wonders You have accomplished. You are a stronghold for the poor and the needy, a shelter from storms and from blasts or heat or cold. You subdue the uproar of aliens and quiet the song of the ruthless. God provides a feast for His people. He will swallow up death forever and wipe away every tear from all faces. He will banish from earth the reproach of His people. This is our God; we have waited for Him, so that He may save us. This is YHWH; let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation!
John wrote: I, your brother, who share with you the tribulation and the kingdom in Jesus and the patient endurance, was on the isle of Patmos. I was exiled there because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord's Day, I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, saying 'Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.' Turning to see the source that was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands, and in their midst one like a son of man. He was clothed in a long white robe with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white as snow or wool; His eyes were like flames of fire; His feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace; and His voice was like the roar of many waters. In His right hand, He held seven stars; from His mouth issued a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in full strength. I fell at His feet as though dead, but He put His right hand on me and said, 'Fear not! I Am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I died, yet behold, I Am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. Now, write what you see: what is and what is to come hereafter. The seven stars you saw are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.'
Jesus went out to them Mount of Olives, and then came to the temple early in the morning. A crowd came to Him and He began to teach them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought before Jesus a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They said to Him, 'Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Moses in the law commanded us to stone such as she is. What do you say about her?' They said all this to test Jesus, for they were seeking some charge to bring against Him. Jesus bent down and wrote with His finger on the ground. As they continued to interrogate Him, Jesus stood up and said to them, 'Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at here.' And once again He bent down and wrote with His finger on the ground. One by one, beginning with the eldest, the accusers went away, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before Him. Jesus looked up and said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?' She said, 'No one, Lord.' Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.'
