Devotions: Ps 101, 109, 119:121-44; Jer 18:1-11; Rom 8:1-11; Jn 6:27-40
Lord, I will sing to You of loyalty and justice; I will walk in the integrity of my Savior, and focus on edifying things, turning from what is base and harmful. I will look favorably on those who seek to do Your will. Let God judge and punish those who will not turn to follow His ways. I am poor and needy, but my God is the Master of all creation. Save me according to Your steadfast love, my Lord and clothe my accusers in dishonor. God stands beside the needy to save us from those who would condemn us to death. So deal with me, Your servant, according to Your steadfast love, my God. I love Your commands and my soul delights when I am obedient to them. Redeem me from human oppression, righteous Lord.. You are righteous and absolutely faithful. Your commands are my delight. Hear me in Your steadfast love, and hold me close to Your side.
God's word came to the prophet Jeremiah: Get up and go to the potter's house. There, he saw the craftsman at his wheel. The clay vessel he was shaping was spoiled, so the potter reworked the clay and made a different vessel, as seemd good to the potter. YHWH said: 'House of Israel, can I not do with you what the potter has done? You are like clay in My hands. If a nation in My hands turns from the evil it has done, I will also repent of the evil I had contemplated against that nation; likewise, if I have intended to build up a nation, and it nevertheless offends against Me, I will repent of the good I had intended to do for them. Now tell the people of Judah and Jerusalem: "This is what YHWH says to you: I Am shaping evil against you. Return! Repent, each of you, and amend your ways and doings."'
There is now no condemnation for those who are in the Messiah Jesus. The law of the Spirit of life in the Messiah Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not accomplish. God has sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, God condemned sin in the flesh, so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Those who live by the flesh set their minds on fleshly matters, and to do this is death. But to set one's mind on the Spirit is life and peace. The mind set on fleshly matters is hostile to God; it does not, indeed cannot, submit to God's law. And those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are in the Spirit, not in the flesh, if God's Spirit lives in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of the Messiah does not belong to Him. But if the Messiah is in you, though your bodies are dead due to sin, your spirits are alive because of righteousness. If the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raise the Messiah Jesus from the dead will give life to your motral bodies also, through His Spirit Who dwells in you.
Jesus taught those who were seeking Him: 'Don't labor for perishable food, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of man gives to you, on Whom God the Father has set His seal of approval.' They asked what it meant to do the works of God. Jesus answered, 'His work is this: to believe on the One Whom He has sent.' So they asked Jesus what sign He would give them to trigger saving belief among them. They said that God had fed their ancestors in the wilderness—manna, the bread of heaven. And Jesus answered,'Truly I tell you, it was not Moses but My Father who gives you the true bread of heaven. God's bread comes down form heaven and gives life to the world.' They pleaded with Jesus to give them this bread, and He said, 'I Am the Bread of life! Whoever comes to Me will not hunger, and will never thirst. I told you that you have seen Me, yet you do not believe. All whom the Father gives Me will come to Me, and I will not cast anyone out who comes to Me. I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him Who sent Me. His will is this: that I should lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up on the last day. My Father's will is that everyone who sees and believes in the Son should have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.'
