Devotions:
Ps 26, 28, 36, 39; Sir 6:5-17; Rev 7:9-17; Lk 10:1-16
Lord,
vindicate me as I walk in the integrity of my Savior and Lord. Test
my heart and mind, my soul, spirit and body and purify me to walk
before You in faithfulness and righteousness. I will not join in
evil with the wicked; I wash my hands of my own sins and those of my
community. Lord, I love Your presence; accept me as a servant in
Your household. Set me on level ground, I pray. If You ignore me,
I'll be lost indeed. I leave the wicked to You, great Judge of all.
YHWH Is my strength and my shield. God is the strength of His
people, the saving refuge of His anointed ones. God's word moves me;
the wicked are drawn to transgression. They flatter themselves and
plunge into iniquity and mischief. Your love, O Lord, reaches to the
heavens; Your faithfulness to the clouds Your righteousness is like
the mighty mountains; Your justice rolls like the ocean tides.
Priceless is Your steadfast love, O God. Let not the foot of
arrogance come down upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me
away. Lord, keep my mortality before me, that I may not waste life
and breath, or squander Your anointing. My hope is in You alone;
deliver me from all my sins; keep me from the scorn of fools. We are
just breaths, dust in the wind, Lord, in Your eternity. Let me taste
gladness for Your sake, Lord; teach me joy and security under Your
majesty. Amen.
Yeshua
ben Sirach wrote: A pleasant voice multiplies friends; a gracious
tongue multiplies courtesy. Be at peace with many, but take advice
from few. Test those before you make them friends; allies of
convenience cannot be trusted in times of trouble—those 'friends'
become enemies when the wind shifts; mere table companions fade away
in your days of trouble. Keep far from enemies, and stay alert even
with friends. A true faithful friend is a sturdy shelter, a true
treasure—of immeasurable value. Those who honor God order their
friendships rightly.
John
the Revelator wrote: I looked and saw an innumerable host from every
nation, tribe, people and tongue. All were standing before God's
throne and before the Lamb. They wore white robes; they held palm
branches in their hands. And all cried together in a mighty chorus:
'Salvation belongs to our God, Who sits upon the throne, and to the
Lamb!' All the angels also stood around the throne, and the
twenty-four elders and the four living creatures, and all fell
facedown before the throne, worshiping God. They cried, 'Amen!
Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power
and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.' One elder spoke
to me: 'Who are these, clothed in white robes? Where did they come
from?' And I replied 'Sir, you know.' And he said, 'They are those
who have come out from the great tribulation; they have washed their
robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they
attend the throne of God day and night, in His sanctuary; and He Who
sits on the throne will shelter them with His Presence. They will
never hunger or thirst again; the sun will not scorch them. For the
Lamb Is their Shepherd, and He guides them to living waters. And God
will wipe away every tear from their eyes.' Yes!
Jesus
appointed seventy disciples, and sent them ahead of Himself, in
pairs, to every town and place He was about to visit. He told them,
'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. So now: pray to
the Lord of the harvest, that He send forth laborers to His harvest.
Go your way; and pay attention: I Am sending you out like lambs among
wolves. Take no provision—no purse, no bag, no sandals; and tarry
with no one along your road. Wherever you enter, first say, "Peace
be upon this house!" And if children of God's peace lives there,
your peace will rest upon them. If not, your peace will simply
return to you. Stay in the same house; eat and drink whatever they
provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Don't pass from house
to house, trying to improve your lot each time. When a town receives you,
eat what they offer; heal their sick and tell them, 'God's kingdom
has come near to you.' But if you enter a town that does not receive
you with hospitality, go out into its streets, and say this: 'Even
the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off against
you. But know this: God's kingdom has come near to you, and you
have rejected it.' Jesus said, 'It will be more tolerable on the Day
of judgment for Sodom than for that town. Woe to you Chorazin, and
to you, Bethsaida! If the mighty works done in you were done in Tyre
and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, and sat in sackcloth
and ashes. But it will be more tolerable on the Day of judgment for
Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted
to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades. Whoever hears you
is also hearing Me, and those who reject you are also rejecting Me.
And anyone who rejects Me also rejects Him Who sent me.'
