Devotions: Ps 38; 119:25-48; Isa 44:24-45:7; Eph 5:1-14; Mk 4:1-20
Lord, I am buried under my cascade of sins and folly. There is no soundness in my being; Lord, all my longing and frustration are known to You. My companions stay away—I face life alone and in my futility. Rescue me, my Lord! Forgive my sins; drive off those who seek my life; You are my only Hope. I confess my sin; save me, O my Savior! Restore to me Your joy; strengthen me by Your word; put false ways far from me; enlarge my understanding, great Lord! Lead me in the righteous path of Your commands, and help me breathe again, God! Incline my heart and mind to please You, not myself. I seek Your precepts—late and weakly, but I know the truth. I will meditate on Your statutes.
I AM is Master of nature and of human history. I am Lord of all; there is no other! I make weal, and I create woe. I Am Maker and Master of all that is!
Imitate God; walk as Jesus the Messiah walked, in love and submission. God hates fornication; those who fornicate have no place in God’s kingdom. You’ve had enough of that side of life; now live to God! Wake up and walk wisely; make the most of the time remaining to you! Be filled with the Holy Spirit, and praise God in your hearts; encourage and build one another up!
Sitting in a boat along the shore, Jesus taught the overflowing crowds the parable of the sower, seed and soils: hard-packed pathway, rocky ground, weed-choked soil, and good earth! Satan, rootlessness, and worldly cares keep God’s word from bearing fruit; but in those who receive and nurture the Word, it bears thirty-, sixty- and one-hundred-fold.
