Devotions: Proverbs 3
Keep God’s commands alive in your heart, for they will give you long life and prosperity. Guard loyalty and faithfulness; keep them close and stir them up, so that you find favor in the sight of God and people. Trust YHWH with all your heart; don’t rely on your own insight. Acknowledge God in all your ways, and He will direct you and make your way straight. Fear God; turn from evil; don’t be wise in your own eyes—in this healthy praxis is wholeness, healing and refreshment for your flesh and bones! Honor YHWH with your substance; give Him the first fruits of everything you receive or produce; then you will be overflowing with good things! Don’t become discouraged or angry when God reproves you—He disciplines only those He loves, as a father reproves the son who delights him. Invest yourself in seeking wisdom and understanding; that is an investment that pays better than silver, gold, or precious gems. Wisdom conveys long life, wealth, wisdom, contentment and peace! Wisdom and knowledge were God’s tools in creating all that exists, and they will keep you safe and steady; you’ll sleep well and wake ready to face anything. YHWH Himself will be your confidence and freedom. Help others whenever you can; do no evil and all the good in your power. Don’t envy the violent or perverse; they are cursed by God, and will reap what they have sown. Practice humility and wisdom, and receive God’s favor and honor.
