Devotions: Ps 30, 32, 42, 43; Isa 46:1-13; Eph 6:10-24; Mk 5:1-20

I extol God, Who has saved me; He is angry for a moment, but His steadfast love endures forever. YHWH is my Helper; Lord, You have turned my mourning into dancing; I will thank and praise You forever. Blessed is everyone to whom God imputes no sin. I confess my transgressions, and God forgives and heals me. God, You surround me with Your deliverance. I rejoice in God my Savior! My soul longs for God like a thirsty stag pants for water in the wilderness; I have struggled and suffered, but God will not let me perish; let Your light and truth guide me Home to God.

There is only one living God; all other ‘gods’ are false idols, with no power to help, no life to give. God alone saves! So be strong in the Lord; put on all His armor: for we stand against spiritual enemies—the Satan, principalities, powers, world rulers, and spiritual hosts of wickedness. Gird your loins with truth; put on the breastplate of righteousness; shod your feet with the gospel of peace; take up the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word, wielded by Spirit-filled prayer. Stay alert; intercede for the saints; share the peace and love of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, love that cannot die!

In Gerasa, a man tormented by demons came to Jesus. Jesus demanded the demons’ name—‘Legion, for we are many!’—and commanded them to leave the man alone. They begged His permission, and He allowed them to enter into a large herd of pigs; the herd, numbering about 2000, rushed down a slope into the Sea of Galilee and drowned. The local residents came and begged Jesus to leave their region; the man He had delivered begged to stay with Jesus, but the Lord sent him home to tell about all God had done for him. And everyone marveled at the works of the Lord Jesus.
