Devotions: Ps 31, 35; Isa 45:18-25; Eph 6:1-9; Mk 4:35-41
God, I take refuge in You alone. My strength is failing, but I belong to the Mighty One, and Your power is sufficient for me. My adversaries scorn me—they don’t take You into account; my times are in Your hand; save me in Your steadfast love! Silence lying lips and wicked minds. God answers my prayers. I will be strong and courageous in faith, and wait upon YHWH. I leave my enemies to God and God’s judgment; He will bring ruin on those who seek to harm me. And I will praise God in the great congregation; He will vindicate me to His name’s honor. Great is the Lord, and I will praise Him all day long.
God is open about His power and holiness. There is no other god; no other Source of righteousness and strength; in Him my children’s children will prosper and triumph!
Children, honor your parents; fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; bring them up in the nurture and discipline of the Lord. Slaves, obey your earthly masters; and masters, treat your slaves with kindness, as you want God to treat you! We all have one, perfect, impartial Master.
Even the winds and waves obey the voice Him Who created them. Let Him also still the storms in my own soul and spirit this day! Amen.
