Devotions: Ps 41, 44, 52; Isa 48:1-11; Gal 1:1-17; Mk 5:21-43
Blessed are they who consider the poor—God takes the same attitude to them, and delivers them in the day of their trouble. Lord, heal me; I have sinned against You. I know You love me, because I’m still standing and my enemy has not triumphed over me. Blessed is YHWH, my God! God has saved me from all enemies, and my boast is in Him alone! I will continue to trust that God will rouse Himself and deliver me yet again, for the sake of His steadfast love. God breaks the arrogant, but I abide, like a green olive tree, fruitful in God’s bower. I will thank and praise my God today and always.
God is still revealing new truth; He is endless, infinitely great! I will loosen up and go where God would take me. He will not give His glory to another!
Paul to the churches in Galatia: Grace and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah. Don’t fall away—there is only one gospel, revealed by God through Jesus Christ. Paul himself was an upward-mobile Jew, advanced beyond his peers in knowledge and pride—but God had prepared him for the service of the gospel, and Paul responded immediately when he was called and sent.
A synagogue ruler named Jairus came and fell at Jesus’ feet, begging the Lord to come and save Jairus’ dying daughter. Among the crowd around Jesus was a woman who had suffered twelve years with hemorrhaging; no doctor could cure her, and the illness had used up all her resources. In desperation, she reached out to touch Jesus, and immediately, she was cured! Jesus perceived that power had gone out from Him, and asked, ‘Who touched Me?’ Eventually, the woman admitted the whole truth, and Jesus said, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your disease.’ Messengers came from Jairus’ home to announce that the young girl had died; but Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t fear; just believe!’ He took Peter, James and John with Him, and proceeded to the synagogue ruler’s house. He cleared the room where she was lying, took her by the hand, and said to her, ‘Talitha cumi.’ [Little girl, I say to you, arise!]. Immediately she got up and walked; Jesus told them to give her something to eat, and not to tell anyone about what they had witnessed.
